Program Description:
London, England: Summer 2018 (Social Science & Fine Arts)

Students will take two courses:
  • SOC 101 (3 credits) Introduction to Sociology (Dr. Nick McRee);
  • FA 207 (3 credits) Introduction to Fine Arts (Michael Connolly)
Either of these courses can also be counted for upper division credits in these disciplines if a student has already taken FA 207 or SOC 101.


The Experience:  
Located in the British Isles, London is the historic capital of England and stands along the River Thames in the south east of the island of Great Britain. The city has been a major settlement for two millennia and was founded by the Romans. London is now a leading global city in the arts, commerce, education, media, and more making it a great opportunity for students of many majors.

Students take two of the offered courses while in London. Excursions include visits to Cambridge, Canterbury, Dover, Hampton Court, and Greenwich.  Students also visit the National Portrait Gallery, Westminster Abbey, the Natural History Museum, and the Science Museum.  The program also includes visits to theatrical performances.

Students should plan to arrive by 6 p.m. on the arrival date. They should depart by 10 a.m. on the departure date.

Living Quarters:
Students and faculty will live in apartments with kitchen facilities in downtown London.

Financial Aid:
This program is eligible for State, Federal, Private and UP Financial Aid; however, summer aid typically is in the form of loans. For more financial aid information visit:
